MSU/Powell County Extension Service 4-H Information and Forms 4-H Montana 4-H National

There will be two opportunities to attend Quality Assurance training in February that will count as County Events--one in Powell County and one in Granite County. Quality Assurance is required every other year if you are taking a market or breeding animal project. Please make every effort to attend one of these trainings if this is your mandatory year to take the training as there may not be another training offered in Powell County and you will have to travel out-of-county to get the training before July 1. Failure to get the training by July 1 will disqualify you from selling your animal at the fair. If you enrolled in a large animal market or breeding project your name is on the list on the "4-H Information and Forms" web page (link above) with the date of your qualifying Quality Assurance training—if there is no date, this is your mandatory year to take the training.

Dates:

Monday February 12, 2018, 6:30 pm at the Central Park Center Board Room, (400 Block of Montana Ave), Deer Lodge

Monday February 26, 2018, 7:00 pm at Hall School, Hall, MT (focus will be on beef, but other breeds may attend)

Mount Powell Champs 4-H Club
County Event

Valley Foods in Deer Lodge

You must sign up no later than February 15 to attend this event.  Please reply to this email or call 846-9708 and leave a message that you plan to attend.

Let’s look at what happens when a farmer’s produce hits the grocery store.  Learn about the behind the scenes of a grocery store—how does the store determine how long a loaf of bread stays on the shelf or when does more meat need to be ordered, etc.  How does a grocery store determine prices of items and what is unique about a small town grocery store business.
