PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR

Powell County announces an opening for interim appointment of the Powell County Public Administrator.  Start date:  January 1, 2023.

The Powell County Administrator is an elected or appointed position under Montana law, Title 72, Chapter 15.  The Public Administrator provides services for persons in Powell County who may need guardianship or estate administration.  The Public Administrator is primarily a volunteer position.  There may be some compensation available in the administration of a probate estate.  The need for these services is infrequent but still very necessary as a public service.

To qualify for this position, an applicant must be of voting age, a citizen of Montana, and a registered Powell County voter.  The successful applicant will be appointed by the Powell County Commissioners, and must take an oath of office, and be able to perform the functions and duties of the office responsibly and without conflict of interest.

DEPUTY COUNTY ATTORNEY

The Powell County Attorney’s Office announces an opening for hiring and appointment of a part-time Deputy County Attorney.  Start date:  December 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.  Additional employment beyond June 30, 2023 may be available.

Qualified applicants will be licensed attorneys in good standing in the State of Montana or who will obtain a Montana license within 90 days of hire.  Trial experience is desired but not required.  Additional experience in public or business administration is desired.

The primary function of the position will be prosecution of criminal cases in the State of Montana in the Third Judicial District Court and the Powell County Justice Court.  The secondary function of the position is advisory to the Powell County commissioners and department heads.

LEGAL ASSISTANT/PARALEGAL

The Legal Assistant/Paralegal provides assistance to the Powell County Attorney, performing advanced administrative and clerical services.  In addition to managing the front office of the County Attorney (mail, phone, supplies, files), the person will regularly draft legal documents for the review of the attorney and for presentation to the court.  The person will know the structure of a legal case file, and learn the process of a criminal prosecution, in order to support case management.  The person will communicate with the Court, with opposing counsel, law enforcement, or the public on behalf of the Powell County Attorney.  The person is primarily responsible for evidence management and production.  The person will provide back-up support for the File Clerk/Legal Assistant position will perform filing, front desk, and other support tasks as needed.

VOLUNTEER CORDINATOR

The Council on Aging is seeking to employ a part-time Volunteer Coordinator.  This person would assist in the development and coordination of a volunteer program, recruit and manage volunteers, and match volunteers to potential program participants. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse people and have a working knowledge of databases and MS office. Position open until filled.
