PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER

Powell County is in search of a Public Health Officer. Must be an M.D., Nurse Practitioner, or have a Master’s in Public Health. This is a salaried position at the rate of $400.00 per month, generally does not require more than 4 hours/per month, however, expect more hours during an emergency and/or times of pandemic.

Job description:

50-2-118. Powers and duties of local health officers. In order to carry out the purpose of the public health system, in collaboration with federal, state, and local partners, local health officers or their authorized representatives shall:

(1)    make inspections for conditions of public health importance and issue written orders for compliance or for correction, destruction, or removal of the condition;

(2) take steps to limit contact between people in order to protect the public health from imminent threats, including but not limited to ordering the closure of buildings or facilities where people congregate and canceling events

(4)  establish and maintain quarantine and isolation measures as adopted by the local board of health; and

(5) pursue action with the appropriate court if this chapter or rules adopted by the local board or department under this chapter are violated.

EXTENSION SERVICE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT/COUNTY IT COORINDATOR

This position serves as both the MSU Powell County Administrative Assistant and Powell County IT Coordinator and website maintainer. Administrative Assistant duties include varied receptionist, secretarial, bookkeeping, and office management tasks requiring the ability to work well with people and good organizational skills. This position is heavily involved with Powell County 4-H Program administration and requires a working knowledge of 4-H software, policies, and programming. This position also serves as the Powell County Technology coordinator. Technology coordination consists of maintaining computer equipment and software inventories, maintaining Powell County website, managing IT budget, and assisting county employees with IT questions and issues. Salary starts at $25,000/yr plus benefits. Merit-based raises available. Average hours per week are 30; however, some weeks will require +40 hours while others will require less than 10 hours depending on workload. The Powell County Weed Board Office is currently hiring for the position of part time administrative and financial assistant.

Administrative/financial assistant duties and responsibilities include: general office organization and management, data entry, balance sheet preparation, financial records maintenance and reporting, and processing invoices. Proficiency in office management systems including Excel and MS Word and attention to detail and accuracy required. Accounting experience highly desirable.
