IN THE JUSTICE COURT OF POWELL COUNTY

AND THE CITY COURT OF DEER LODGE

The Justice Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor offenses including criminal, traffic, DOT (Code of Federal Regulation), Fish Wildlife and Parks, civil cases for amounts up to $12,000.00, landlord-tenant disputes and protection orders.

The City Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor offenses that occur within city limits, including criminal, traffic, and local ordinances.

The Courts are open 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. We are closed on legal holidays. If you need to appear before the Judge, please call the Court to schedule a time for your appearance, particularly if you are travelling from outside of Deer Lodge. If you do not have an appointment, the judge may not be able to see you.

Weddings may be scheduled anytime during office hours. Weekend weddings are scheduled at the discretion of the Judge. There is a charge for out-of-town and weekend ceremonies.
